Martha Pollard 1811

ENGLISH:

This chart draws inspiration from an ancient sampler stitched by a young lady: Matha Pollard. She created these wonderful patterns in 1811, probably as a gift to her school friends. Martha Pollard attended Ackworth School from 1809 to 1811. The octagon medallion seems to have been particularly favoured by Quaker schools both in England and America. This chart is my way to celebrate this bicentenary: 1811 - 2011.

ITALIANO:

Questo schema trae ispirazione dall’ antico sampler di una giovane fanciulla: Martha Pollard. Ella creò questi disegni meravigliosi nel 1811, probabilmente come dono per le sue compagne di scuola. Martha Pollard era infatti una studentessa alla Ackworth School, e lo fu dal 1809 al 1811. La forma ottagonale dei medaglioni pare essere una delle forme preferite dalle scuole Quaker sia in Inghilterra che in America.

Ricreare i disegni di Martha è il mio omaggio a lei e a questa splendida arte in occasione del bicentenario della loro prima creazione: 1811 - 2011

Ecco qui i tanto attesi Thread Keepers. Sono tutti in legno ovviamente, tagliati a mano e poi dipinti a mano, quindi nessuna produzione massiccia, ma oggetti curati e rifiniti uno ad uno. Questa è la tinta legno classica per questi oggetti, ma si possono avere anche in legno naturale. I bordi sono ovviamente perfettamente lisci

Here are my beloved Thread Keepers. They're all in wood obviously, cut by hand and then painted by hand, therefore they're objects  finished off one by one. This is the classic color wood for these objects, but you can have them also in natural wood. The edges are obviously perfectly smooth in order not to ruin the threads. So, they are my little jewels!
