YULE HARE

The YULE HARE is here… meet her in my shops, links below.
Through the hushed pines drifts the ghostly spirit of the Yule Hare. Neither wholly of this world nor the next, it moves like a shadow between falling snowflakes, vanishing where the white silence deepens. Its golden eyes flicker like distant embers, its holly crown a sign of life defying the frost.

They say it runs not upon the earth, but through the breath of winter itself, a fleeting phantom whose passing chills the air and stirs the soul. To glimpse it is to feel the stillness of Yule: a moment where endings and beginnings fold together, carried on the whisper of snow.

She is available now, as an INSTANT DOWNLOAD on both my shops:

The model was stitched on my brand new fabric, CHRISTMAS AT COURT, available in 30, 36, and 40 count linen, and also on request in 18 ct Aida. This particular sample was stitched on 30 ct by the wonderful Elisabetta, whose delicate work brought the design to life.

12 MONTHS OF CHRISTMAS SAL: September & October ornaments

My dearest wicked friends, you will hardly believe it, but I have managed to complete the stages of my Christmas SAL perfectly on time! And within our little group I even presented them promptly! Yet, I quite forgot to share them with all of you who are not part of our Christmas circle just yet. Perhaps, upon seeing these latest two charts, you might feel inclined to join us. And of course, two still remain: the November and December charts. Who knows whether I shall manage to be punctual with those as well…

IF YOU WANT TO SUBSCRIBE PLEASE USE ONE OF THESE LINKS (Etsy is the more expensive due to Etsy fees, plus Etsy add taxes, which are already included in my other shops' prices).

This is the ninth stage but the eighth design, and I hope you’ll like it, because I can’t think of anything more classic and more representative of Christmas than wishing a Merry Christmas. Instead of a legend in this installment, I’ll be telling you about the origins of Christmas greetings.

The origins of Christmas Greetings:

Today, saying “Merry Christmas” or “Buon Natale” (in italia) feels natural and effortless, a gesture we repeat almost automatically. Yet behind this simple wish lies a long and fascinating history that stretches back thousands of years. Christmas greetings are not just a polite formula: they are the living echo of rituals, cultural exchanges, and human needs that have evolved over centuries. To understand their origins, we need to journey back in time, to the midwinter celebrations of the (...) - it follows in the PDF -

...and if there’s anything more Christmassy than saying Merry Christmas, perhaps it’s the Christmas Elves themselves. But what’s their story? I’ve written this little piece of research to brighten your evenings and inspire you just before you start stitching...

The Christmas Elves: Origins and Legends

The familiar image of Santa’s Elves, cheerful little beings dressed in green and red, busily crafting toys in the North Pole, is a relatively recent invention. Yet, these charming figures are the distant heirs of far more ancient and my- sterious beings who have danced through the pages of myth, folklore, and seasonal ritual for centuries. The word elf comes from the Old English ælf, and its Norse  (...) - it follows in the PDF -

WOODLAND STITCHY FRIENDS: a new series

Part of the 2025 Halloween Collection, this little hedgehog is all set for autumn magic: wearing a witch’s hat and carefully stitching away on a tiny embroidery hoop.
The model was beautifully stitched by Elisabetta on my signature Boleyn 30 ct linen, a warm and timeless fabric that adds a delicate vintage feel to the piece.

This cutie is the perfect pattern to welcome the cozy season, stitch by stitch, with candlelight and falling leaves all around. WSF: HEDGEHOG belongs to the Woodland Stitchy Friends series: a gentle celebration of magical creatures who, like us, find comfort in needle and thread as the days grow shorter. Soon I will release more animals.

THE NOVEL: 6th pattern in A Christmas Carol series

Hello Wicked Hares, this is the sixth design in my A Christmas Carol series, lovingly inspired by the timeless novel by Charles Dickens. Each stitch pays homage to the story that taught us redemption, compassion, and the true spirit of Christmas. With its ornate gothic lettering, festive holly, and royal crown, this piece captures the elegance and solemn beauty of Victorian Yuletide. Please note that the photo does not do justice to the true richness of the colours: although it may appear black in the image, the design actually uses classic, deep Christmas tones. Unfortunately, the photo fails to fully reflect them.

This chart will be available in my shop in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime it can be ordered through your favourite needlework shop, as well as the fabric.

One ghost closer to Christmas…

The model was stitched on my brand new fabric, CHRISTMAS AT COURT, available in 30, 36, and 40 count linen, and also on request in 18 ct Aida. This particular sample was stitched on 30 ct by the wonderful Elisabetta, whose delicate work brought the design to life.

NEVERENDING

“STITCHING IS A NEVER-ENDING STORY, A TRIBUTE TO ONE OF MY MOST BELOVED BOOKS…”
There are stories that do not simply belong to the years of childhood, but continue to weave themselves into the fabric of our lives. The NeverEnding Story has always been one of those tales for me. I grew up with the dream of riding Falkor, the luckdragon and with the conviction that life itself was a quest, a mission to discover and protect the hidden fragments of magic scattered everywhere around us. And I still think this is my path…

As the years passed, I realised that this “mission” was not only about reading stories, but about creating them, giving shape to worlds through my hands, my needle, and my thread. Every stitch is a spell, every fabric a page, every design a fragment of that same never-ending book. To stitch is to believe that the impossible can take form; that wonder does not vanish when childhood ends, but rather transforms, waiting to be rediscovered in small, luminous details.

Cross stitch for me, is the continuation of that childhood promise: to seek beauty, to weave stories, to let imagination and reality intertwine. Each pattern is a key to Fantasia, each colour a reminder that the world still contains corners of enchantment if only we dare to look. My tribute to The NeverEnding Story is therefore not only to a book, but to a way of living: with eyes open to the unseen, heart ready to believe, and hands that patiently stitch fragments of infinity into fabric.

This pattern was stitched by Elisabetta on Fairy Cloth 32 count, a truly enchanting fabric, woven with luminous and iridescent threads and then hand-dyed to create unique shades. The pattern IS available for all shops at the Needlework Marketplace, so I warmly invite my dear customers to support their favourite store and purchase it from there. IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS the design will also be available directly from me on my Shop and also on Etsy.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for following me in this never-ending adventure of stitches and dreams.

NEW PATREON PATTERN: Here come the Crows

My beloved Wicked Hares, Autumn has arrived here in my world of woods and rivers, where the water is already turning cold... I felt the need to start stitching the eerie season that lies ahead, and this design was the first to call me. I hope yu'll love it as much as I do, and I hope you'll be happy to know that it has been designed with a huge cat on my wrist LOL... but honestly: would you date to move the cat????

HERE COME THE CROWS is stitched Dark Spell SMALL Cut – 30 ct linen by The Primitive Hare

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ:
This pattern will be available ONLY until August 31st.

COVEN AT THE BEACH - NeedleworK marketplace 2025

COVEN AT THE BEACH: new for Needlework Marketplace 2025

Who says witches only gather under the moonlight? This summer, our coven has packed their brooms and pointed hats… and headed straight to the seaside!

Coven at the Beach is the brand-new design by The Primitive Hare, lovingly stitched by Elisabetta on our enchanting new linen Cornwall Sand 30ct. This soft sandy fabric is the perfect backdrop for seaside magic and witchy fun.

To make your stitching even more spellbinding, we’ve conjured a charming set of accessories to match:
a playful thread keeper,

a magical scissor jewel to guard your precious blades

and three hand-painted pins, as useful as they are bewitching.

All these goodies will debut at the Needlework Marketplace this August. Please place your orders through your favorite local needlework shop – all shops already have the details, so you won’t miss the tide!
And for those who prefer a direct deal with the witch herself – I will personally start selling all of these items only after the Marketplace closes at the end of August.
So grab your sunscreen, your stitching, and perhaps a broom for the sand dunes… and join the Coven at the Beach!

THE VISIT - Needlework marketplace 2025

THE VISIT: new for Needlework Marketplace 2025

Halloween whispers, shadows linger, and a visit is at hand…
I’m delighted to present The Visit, part of The Primitive Hare’s 2025 Halloween Collection (Needlework marketplace).
This haunting design has been stitched by Elisabetta on my very own fabric Dark Spell Big Cut 30 CT, a fabric that perfectly captures the mystery and depth of the season.
For those who wish to welcome The Visit into their stitching journey, you can place your orders directly through your favorite local or online needlework shops. All shops have already received the information needed to bring this design to their customers, so you may safely contact them to secure your copy.
Please note: I will offer The Visit personally only after the Market: until then, your trusted cross-stitch shops are ready to take care of your orders.

But beware… this is no ordinary design. The lady who walks across the stitches is no mortal woman. She is the shadow of a visitor long departed, drifting between worlds on nights when the veil is thin. Her garments are forever stirred by a wind that belongs not to this earth, and at her feet, silent guardians bear witness to her return. Some say she comes with a message, others that she lingers still, bound by love, by grief… or by vengeance.
Each stitch is a summoning, each thread a whisper from beyond. When you bring The Visit into your home, you invite the memory of a ghostly presence who still waits… and still watches.
Step into the spell, and let The Visit call to you.

Many thanks to my dear Elisabetta

The name of this pattern is Is Born:
for this occasion I have decided to share a reflection on the symbols we hold in common across time and tradition, both pagan and Christian.
I have titled this piece “Is Born” because, during the solstice season, something ancient awakens. The light is born, hope is reborn, and the sacred child returns.

“Is Born” : A Reflection on Solstice, Light, and Sacred Birth

Long before written history, human beings looked to the sky.
The winter solstice, the longest night of the year, marked a cosmic threshold, a turning point when darkness began to give way to light. For Neolithic societies throughout Europe, this moment held ritual and symbolic meaning, reflected in their architecture, their mythology, and their understanding of life and death.
At Newgrange in Ireland, built around three thousand two hundred years before the common era, and older than both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids, a narrow stone passage aligns (...) - it follows in the PDF -

MINI HARE CLUB ON PATREON

Introducing the MINI HARE Club:A Secret Stitching Circle on Patreon
Welcome, dearest friends and kindred souls, to a new enchanted corner of The Primitive Hare world. In the heart of a forest where snow falls gently upon toadstools, a white hare spins golden thread beneath the trees… and now, she invites you to join her. I am beyond delighted to present to you the MINI HARE Club: a new Patreon-only offering for those who love tiny, magical stitches.

For just $8 a month, you’ll receive two exclusive mini cross-stitch patterns, released quietly on random days each month. They’ll be small - like whispers from the forest - and entirely exclusive to Patreon. They won’t be available anywhere else. I’m still learning how to make the subscription work. Please be patient if the links don’t arrive right away. You will also receive a voucher to use in my shop, which will give you a 5% discount on your total order.

This is my way of sharing joy and inspiration with those who walk beside me on this creative path. Sometimes I feel like drawing tiny little things that would become far too expensive if I had to factor in the time it would take my wonderful Elisabetta to stitch them, and then have them printed as well. So I thought of sharing these small sparks of creativity with you in this new way.
Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a curious beginner, the MINI HARE Club is a gentle invitation to pause, stitch, and dream – even if just for a moment. Come join us in the quiet glade. The hare is waiting.

PS: My dear Wicked Hares, I need your help. I’ve created my first club on Patreon, but I’m a bit too old to fully understand how it all works. If you’d like to subscribe, please let me know if everything is working properly. I haven’t uploaded the patterns yet—they’ll be published throughout the month—but I’d love to know if you’re able to subscribe (if you wish to, of course).

2025 NASHVILLE RELEASES: HAUNTED STITCHES: the book - part 2

2025 NASHVILLE RELEASES: HAUNTED STITCHES: the book - part 2

Here they are, my dear friends: two more enchanting patterns that you will find in my book Haunted Stitches!

This time, they are a little smaller, but I assure you, they are just as magical and full of mystery. The round needle case is delicately adorned with sparkling Swarovski crystals, making it a true little treasure: perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your stitching corner. The cushion, on the other hand, pays tribute to one of the most incredible paranormal phenomena ever… the mystical power of a cat’s purr!

Did you know that it’s said cat purrs have healing properties? Their soothing vibrations are believed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and even help with healing. I don’t know about you, but when my little ones curl up next to me, purring and snuggling, any sadness or fatigue instantly melts away. It’s pure magic!
If these designs have caught your eye, don’t worry: you’ll find them waiting for you in my new book Haunted Stitches! Happy stitching, and may a little bit of magic always accompany your needle and thread. Have a blessed magical Sunday!

2025 NASHVILLE RELEASES: THE STITCHER - exclusive Nashville market kit

✨ Introducing “The Stitcher” – My Exclusive Kit for Nashville Market ✨
Every year, my exclusive kit is dedicated to something close to our hearts as stitchers. This time, I wanted to design one of us. Since I’ve always been fascinated by antique garments and historical embroidery frames, I imagined one of our ancestors gracefully stitching something truly wonderful on a grand frame.
Because the design is already quite detailed, I decided to keep the color palette simple, if not entirely monochrome, at least within the shades of my favorite color for this piece: brown.

The kit includes:
✔ The chart
✔ The fabric – stitched on Old Salem 30ct, which is included in the kit
❌ The kit does not include DMC threads to avoid unnecessary price increases.

📌 This kit is available exclusively for shops registered as buyers at the Nashville Market. A few months later, it will also be available for other shops.
I truly hope you love this design, and I encourage you to send your pre-orders as soon as possible, as my exclusive kits are always limited and usually sell out before noon on Saturday at the market!
A huge thank you to my wonderful model stitcher Elisabetta, who not only has incredible talent but also endless patience!

2025 NASHVILLE RELEASES: DUNVEGAN FAIRY FLAG

Let me take you on a little journey to Scotland, where legends are as old as the hills and magic is woven into the fabric of history. According to the tale, the Fairy Flag of Dunvegan is a mystical piece of cloth that holds the power to summon fairies when it’s needed most. It still belongs to the MacLeod Clan and is on display at Dunvegan Castle. Who knows? Maybe one day, you’ll need it too… which is why I designed this pattern with the idea that you can replace the flag with a real piece of fabric – just in case those fairies decide to pay you a visit!

This design came to life from a hand-painted sketch, created out of my deep love for folklore, Scotland, and, of course, embroidery. It’s not just a pattern; it’s a piece of my heart and my passion for the stories that shape us. In fact, this project began as a creative outlet for me: a way to escape, relax, and find peace through the art of stitching during some of the more difficult times.
So, whether you’re drawn to the magic of the fairy world or simply love the craft of cross stitch, The Fairy Flag is here to bring a little extra magic into your life.

This pattern has been stitched by Elisabetta on my new McLEOD FAIRY FLAG fabric, available in 30 ct and 40 ct. We used 30 count.
