THE NOVEL: 6th pattern in A Christmas Carol series

Hello Wicked Hares, this is the sixth design in my A Christmas Carol series, lovingly inspired by the timeless novel by Charles Dickens. Each stitch pays homage to the story that taught us redemption, compassion, and the true spirit of Christmas. With its ornate gothic lettering, festive holly, and royal crown, this piece captures the elegance and solemn beauty of Victorian Yuletide. Please note that the photo does not do justice to the true richness of the colours: although it may appear black in the image, the design actually uses classic, deep Christmas tones. Unfortunately, the photo fails to fully reflect them.

This chart will be available in my shop in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime it can be ordered through your favourite needlework shop, as well as the fabric.

One ghost closer to Christmas…

The model was stitched on my brand new fabric, CHRISTMAS AT COURT, available in 30, 36, and 40 count linen,and also on request in 18 ct Aida. This particular sample was stitched on 30 ct by the wonderful Elisabetta, whose delicate work brought the design to life.

Who says witches only gather under the moonlight? This summer, our coven has packed their brooms and pointed hats… and headed straight to the seaside! 

Coven at the Beach is the brand-new design by The Primitive Hare, lovingly stitched by Elisabetta on our enchanting new linen Cornwall Sand 30ct. This soft sandy fabric is the perfect backdrop for seaside magic and witchy fun.

To make your stitching even more spellbinding, we’ve conjured a charming set of accessories to match:

a playful thread keeper,

a magical scissor jewel to guard your precious blades

and three hand-painted pins, as useful as they are bewitching.

All these goodies will debut at the Needlework Marketplace this August. Please place your orders through your favorite local needlework shop – all shops already have the details, so you won’t miss the tide!

And for those who prefer a direct deal with the witch herself – I will personally start selling all of these items only after the Marketplace closes at the end of August.

So grab your sunscreen, your stitching, and perhaps a broom for the sand dunes… and join the Coven at the Beach!

2025 NASHVILLE RELEASES: DUNVEGAN FAIRY FLAG

Let me take you on a little journey to Scotland, where legends are as old as the hills and magic is woven into the fabric of history. According to the tale, the Fairy Flag of Dunvegan is a mystical piece of cloth that holds the power to summon fairies when it’s needed most. It still belongs to the MacLeod Clan and is on display at Dunvegan Castle. Who knows? Maybe one day, you’ll need it too… which is why I designed this pattern with the idea that you can replace the flag with a real piece of fabric – just in case those fairies decide to pay you a visit! 

This design came to life from a hand-painted sketch, created out of my deep love for folklore, Scotland, and, of course, embroidery. It’s not just a pattern; it’s a piece of my heart and my passion for the stories that shape us. In fact, this project began as a creative outlet for me: a way to escape, relax, and find peace through the art of stitching during some of the more difficult times. 

So, whether you’re drawn to the magic of the fairy world or simply love the craft of cross stitch, The Fairy Flag is here to bring a little extra magic into your life. 

This pattern has been stitched by Elisabetta on my new McLEOD FAIRY FLAG fabric, available in 30 ct and 40 ct. We used 30 count.

2025 NASHVILLE RELEASES: HAUNTED STITCHES: the book

 Good morning, dear friends! ☕✨

Today, I’m starting to show you all the little treasures I’ve prepared for the Nashville market! 🎉 Every day, I’ll reveal just one item, creating a sort of countdown to our beloved event. ⏳💛

For today’s feature, I’m excited to present my book 📖  HAUNTED STITCHES along with a couple of accessories designed to go with it! The book includes six patterns, but so far, only five have been stitched, and only two have been photographed. 📸 No worries—once the rest are ready, I’ll be sure to share them with you!

After many years in this wonderful journey of stitching, I often find myself wanting to explore new creative horizons. As much as I love the work I do, there’s something truly exciting about discovering new talent and sharing it with all of you. So, I’m thrilled to announce a new chapter for The Primitive Hare!

For the first time, I’m delighted to introduce a collaboration with the incredibly talented artist behind The Resting Eagle, Cam. She has graciously agreed to create two adorable designs exclusively for The Primitive Hare. These patterns are now part of our collection and are available only through us, which makes this partnership even more special. 🌟

I’ve always wanted to give visibility to emerging artists, and I truly believe that Cam’s work deserves a wider audience. These designs, like all of our creations, are very close to my heart, and I hope you’ll find as much joy in stitching them as I did in bringing them into the The Primitive Hare family.

These two beautiful designs are included in this new book, I designed the other four. I’m excited to see how this collaboration will unfold and how Cam’s wonderful art will be embraced by all of you.

This is just the beginning of a new initiative I hope to continue for years to come: showcasing the work of other talented artists and sharing their unique visions with all of you. While I may not be a household name, after 15 years in the business, I feel it’s the perfect time to help lift up other artists and colleagues who deserve recognition. And let’s not forget – there’s always something new to learn from each other, no matter where we are in our creative journey.

To accompany this charming little book (trust me, it’s absolutely adorable! 😍), I’ve created a brand-new Smart Thread Keeper!  Just like the ones from my previous collection, this one also comes with five thread drops. If you’d like more, you can also purchase the extra pack containing 12 additional thread drops. 

To stitch the patterns in this book, I’ve also created a new fabric, which will be available in 30 count and 40 count. Over time, I’ll be introducing the same fabric in 18 count Aida and 35 count linen as well.

In the coming days, I’ll be revealing the other four patterns, all finished and ready to be photographed and shared! 📸✨

AN ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS: YULE GOAT

"Julbocken" The Yule goat's origins go back to ancient Pagan festivals. While a popular theory is that the celebration of the goat is connected to worship of the Norse god Thor, who rode the sky in a chariot drawn by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, it goes back to common Indo-European beliefs. The last sheaf of grain bundled in the harvest was credited with magical properties as the spirit of the harvest and saved for the Yule celebrations, called among other things Yule goat (Julbocken).

PUMPKIN WITCH

PUMPKIN WITCH is the first Halloween pattern I want to show you. It's a calm witch, sitting on the biggest pumpkin she found in the field... she's probably thinking that the broom has to be fixed in time LOL LOL LOL. She has been stitched on my new fabric Wicked woods, available in 30 and 40 ct.

STITCH COUNT is 98 x 136 stitches

WHAT A DISASTER (or maybe not)

WHAT A DISASTER.... or maybe not!!!! Well girls yesterday I was painting a Tudor shield (see pic) and I accidentally knocked over the gold bottle on the linen my helper Mascia was cutting (we share a not enough huge table)...

I looked at the linen and had an epiphany! We need gold!!!!! Useless to say that a new linen is born and will be available soon.... I'm leaving in few days, but when I'll come back I'll present it! These cuts on pictures ARE made on purpose... the piece ruined with the color has a huge stain on it... Every cloud has a silver lining (or I'd say a gold lining)....
